A few thoughts on the Story of David and Goliath

The giant, Goliath, was “Bigger than life”! Really and truly bigger than life.

The giant Philistine represents all that seems to be against the Israelites . . . all that stands in their way of fully experiencing the promised land . . . all that keeps them from fully living into the freedom, abundance, and peace that they desire and God desires for them . . .

ALL that stands in our way – your way – my way of fully living into the freedom, abundance, and peace we desire and God desires for us . . . is BIGGER than life . . . or so it seems, most days, does it not?!!

If what was keeping us from full freedom, abundance, and peace was minute/simple/a push-over . . . we would have pushed it over/moved beyond it/conquered it by now!

OR . . . would we?!!

If all that was keeping us from freedom, abundance, and peace was minute/simple/a push-over, would we have conquered it by now?

Would we?!! Do you think so?!

Do we recognize that the very thing that appears to be a giant, is probably slow, awkward, clunky, and not the least bit agile?

Do we recognize that our own smallness might be a gift/an asset . . . making us quicker, more alert, more nimble, even fairly agile.

Do we recognize that big weapons carried out in front of a giant might not be nearly as powerful as small weapons hidden in our pocket?

Do we recognize the speed, the force, the power of the stones we carry?

Giants and stones!

We all have them.
